Sasebo is a port town on the western edge of Japan, surrounded by sea and mountains. Houses grow on the slopes like plants growing vines, and cranes at the shipyard look like giant creatures. This is the first tabloid-type photo book of the Sasebo Project, consisting of portraits of people living in front of a small gap in the landscape of the mortar-shaped port town.
